Today I am going to highlight and examine Kathy and Elliot's relationship, from my novel, God's Will. The questions this month can apply and roughly cover this couple's story from beginning to end, so I am very excited.
1. Do they believe in anything that most people think is impossible?
Kathy and Elliot both come to believe, and rest, in the sovereign Lord's plan for their lives. They used to scoff at the idea, and tried to take their lives into their own hands. *That's the condensed version*
2. Are they strong, or the "damsel/knight in distress" sort? Kathy and Elliot are strong, and actually quite similar...though it takes them awhile to realize it. They have strong wills, stubborn streaks a mile wide...but are also vulnerable inside from the hurt that life has doled out.
3. Do they have a special place? ...I wouldn't say they have a "special" place, but they spend quite a bit of time on the front porch. *grins*
4. What occupation do they have, or plan on having? Kathy has no job, and Elliot grew up on his uncle's farm, so he would be considered a "plowboy." Later on in his story, he joins a ranch, and then the Civilian Conservation Corps.
5. Describe their current place of residence. I love that word "current." Makes it ever so confusing to convey where Kathy and Elliot live. For the majority of the story, they live on a rolling farm in South Western Illinois. Kathy originally hails from Chicago, and as I mentioned before, Elliot ends up on a ranch and in the C.C.C. They have Elliot's aunt and uncle's farm in common and learn the most about themselves and each other, while living there.
6. Explain their last crisis. How had they changed when they came out of it?
7. If they could drive any kind of car they wanted, what would it be?
8. How do they deal with change? They both deal with change in similar ways--resentment and resistance to adapting to the change.
9. What does one have to say about the other?

Kathy: "Elliot can be a maddeningly arrogant bore...but he can be a gentleman and has a sweet, sensitive side when it comes to his younger sister, whom I also adore."
Elliot: "You know, at first I couldn't stop staring at Kathy when I met her--she seemed like the prettiest thing I'd ever seen! But then she opened her mouth. I guess she has been through a lot...but she can be downright mull-headed sometimes!"
To close, I must leave you with a picture this author's mind pictures as she wrote the character Elliot (aka: I think of my novel in terms of a movie)
